Stampin' Up Convention 2012 - Swap #2

Howdy, blog friends. Happy Monday -- It always bothers me when I type that -- I don't know why I always say it!! Monday is by far my least favorite day.

Anyway, I digress. I'm back today to share another one of my swap cards from Convention 2012. This one is pretty simple, but I like it -- and it proved to be one of my more popular choices when I gave other demonstrators the option between this one and my other designs.

Remember if you see anything on this card that you'd like to have for your own stash, feel free to visit my online store where you can shop 24 hours a day and have new goodies delivered right to your doorstep!

I had wanted to get a photo of some of the ladies swapping cards when I was at convention, but my battery was dying the first day I arrived to convention and I couldn't find my charger (in fact, I still can't find it!) so I had to be very selected about what I took photos of and alas I forgot about the swapping photo. Actually, as I'm typing this, I think I had one from Convention 2008 --the first year I went:

While, I'm sharing photos from 2008 -- I took another one that year that I thought was really telling.

Now before I upload this let me tell you that if you don't like crowds, don't let this photo scare you -- yes, it is A LOT of people, but you'll notice I took it from above... I tend to stay out of the masses until the general session doors open and then I don't have to deal with the huge crowds because honestly being small... I don't enjoy large crowds all that much -- it's generally just a sea of armpits for me! lol...

Check this out, though:

Crazy, huh?

Convention Swap #1

Hi there... Happy Sunday! Can you believe I'm back two days in a row??

Here is the first of my convention swaps. This one was my favorite. It was inspired by the card on page 39 of the 2012-2013 Idea Book & Catalog.

I made about 108 swaps this year for convention -- a little less than last year's 180, but I think it was a good amount. The first year I went to convention I think I made about 30 or so and they go SOO quickly when you are swapping with thousands of women and I was sad because it seemed like I was done with my swaps in like five minutes! Silly... I know.

Anyway, for those of you that are demonstrators (or customers who would like to re-create this card), below is a list of the supplies I used:

Versamark, 102283, $7.50

Pool Party, 122924, $6.95
Basic Gray, 121044, $6.95
Whisper White, 100730, $8.50

Stamp Set:
Mr. & Mrs., 126663, $8.95

Glue Dots, 103683, $4.95
Stampin' Dimensionals, 104430, $3.95
Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Pack, 117155, $21.95
Silver Embossing Powder, 109131, $4.75
Brights Brads, 119740, $6.95
Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, 118309, $16.95 (three punches)
Elegant Lines Embossing Folder, 119277, $7.95
Big Shot, 113439, $99.95

If you'd like to order any of these stamps or accessories, please feel free to visit my website where you can shop 24 hours a day and orders are shipped directly to your door!

I'll be back tomorrow with another one of my swaps. I actually made five different designs for my swaps as I get bored making the same one over and over and over and over again! Feel free to leave me a comment when you see your favorite!

Finally... Some Convention Photos!

Happy Saturday! While I wasn't able to charge my camera battery in order to get my photos off my camera, I was able to outsmart it!

Without going into details - I now have all my photos and I'm working on several posts to update you on all my happenings over the past few weeks.

This photo is obviously from the 2012 Stampin' Up Convention... I was standing in front of the picture wall where the SU president and co-founder, Shelli Gardner, usually sits for meet and greets. While we didn't get to chat with her on this occasion it did make a great place to pose in front of the theme of this year's convention, which was "I am."

That was one of the directive's that Shelli gave us right at the start of convention in the opening general session.... but yet, I still haven't come up with my "I am" statement yet. Obviously, there are many things "I am" (a stamper, a wife, a sister, a daughter etc..), but I wanted to come up with a more abstract, meaningful statement - and alas that still eludes me! :)

Check out this lip dub video that Stampin' Up made.... It's a really catch theme song this year and it is based on the "I am" theme.

I was actually really excited when I learned that Stampin' Up did a lip dub. Matt introduced me to lip dubs a while back so I thought it was cool that Stampin' Up had one (It's usually colleges and schools that make them). They did a great job, too! In fact, the last part of it was taped live on stage at convention!! That must have been so hard. They begin the opening general session by showing the start of the video and then it just ended and the song continued live on stage with dancers and the singer, Jessie Funk, performing the end of the song live.

Cool, right? It's awfully catchy, too! I just listened to it again and I've got that song stuck in my head again! There is so much to see in the video, too.... Check out about 1:34 into the video -- Shelli Gardener pops up as an added surprise. :) Also there is a girl in this video with the most gorgeous red, bouncy, curly hair! It looks so healthy... lol. What a silly thing to notice, huh?

If you'd like to read a bit more about convention (from a non-biased person... lol!), check out this blog post on Scrapbook Update.

Here's a picture of me and my roomie, Rose Ward, from New York and a couple more of the inspiration boards and such:

I'll be back soon with some photos of my swaps from convention. If you are a demonstrator and visiting my blog for the first time ... first welcome and thank you for swapping with me! I promise to post my convention swaps and the supply lists soon... so come back!! :)

In the meantime, enjoy your weekend!

Technology.... a love/hate relationship

Howdy, friends! So I just wanted to pop in and tell you that I'm having a little tiff with my camera right now. The battery died and I cannot for the life of me find the battery charger!! This means I can't get all my photos filled with awesomness from convention off of it!! Grrr...

I promise as soon as I am able to find a replacement... I will be running to the old blog-o to post some updates! I have so many things to share... pictures of my swaps, pictures of others swaps, display boards, main stage, project ideas, friends.... the list goes on and on!

I'll be back soon... in the meantime, Happy Friday (soon)!

Back to Reality...

Boy, reality is not a fun place to be... especially after having sitting in this little spot for the past week or so -- well actually there and then at the Stampin' Up convention!

Talk about polar opposites, though -- the ultimate in soothing relaxation and then the complete craziness of 3,500 excited stampers in one location!

I had a great trip and can't wait to share more of it with you, but unfortunately, my camera battery is dead so I can't turn it on to get the rest of my photos! Grrr....

I did post a lot of photos from convention on my Facebook page: By the Shore Stamping. Go check me out... and feel free to "like" me if you'd like! It's always good to have a few more friends! :)

Well, it is rather late and I do have to return to the working world tomorrow so i think it is time for nighty-night. Check back often this week, though, as I have a lot to fill you in on!

Happy Fourth!

Hi there... I just wanted to pop in somewhat quickly today to wish you a happy Fourth of July.

I'm laying pretty low key today. (In fact, it's 4:15 p.m. and I still haven't showered!). I've been waffling back and forth between getting out and enjoying the day off and being really sad. It was one month ago today that I last saw my Mom alive. We were making plans to bring her home two days later (albeit in a hospital bed). Having been through this before with my Dad, I know that the first year is so, so difficult because everything is, "one year ago today..." or "this is the first xx holiday without...." I have gotten really good at pretending she is just at home... but then it will hit me hard that she's not there.

As I've said many times the last few weeks... every day is a new battle. Today's battle is a toss up.

One of the things that has helped me forget and even find a bit of joy has been crafting. I made this card a couple of weekends ago when I needed a distraction. I just started playing with some of my new toys and this card showed up! It features the Betsy's Blossoms Stamp set, Floral District Designer Series Paper and the new delicate doilies sizzlit. There are so many great new things in the 2012-2013 Idea Book and catalog... be sure to go check them out here. It's always smart to check out the clearance rack while you are there, too, as you never know when Stampin' Up might throw in some new goodies there!

I hope you are spending the hoiday surrounded by friends and family and celebrating this great country of ours. A special thank you to all of the service men and women who have fought so bravely so we can enjoy days like these.

It's Official...

Thanks to my wonderful team members and customers, I will be taking my first all-expense paid Stampin' Up incentive trip to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina this September!

I am completely amazed that so many people came to my rescue when I sent out an e-mail earlier this week saying I was SOOO close! Thanks to many orders (and a rather sizable order of my own) I will be sitting by this pool in about 3 months!

Thank you all so, so much! I couldn't have done it without you!
