Another Artisian Award Non-Entry

Hi there, stampers! I'm back again today with another card I created to enter into the Stampin' Up Artisian Award Contest. I explained about this demonstrator-only contest here.

This one I made so long ago I'm not even sure I can remember what is on it! Ha..

I know it uses the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper and the Apothecary Art Stamp Sets. Lots of layering on this card. I really went all out with the details using twine, pearls, brads, background stamping, lots of punches, Big Shot Framelits, etc.

I've been thinking about what I want to work on for this year's entry (because I AM going to enter) and I'm thinking I need to use the Birds of a Feather Suite -- It's a little out of my comfort zone, but so, so cute.

Well, I've got a lot of busy work to tackle on my early Friday evening (no work for me tomorrow!) -- think lots of tidying, organizing and well, some stamping, of course!

Have a great Labor Day weekend!

An Artisian Award non-entry

Hello. Happy Lazy days of summer... at least that's how I feel today. I had the day off and while I did have quite a few pre-scheduled appointments that got me up and out of the house this morning, the rest of the day has been one of those lazy, hazy days of summer. I've actually been hiding in my air-conditioned stamp room for a bit if I must confess... but I'm thinking I might head out to the beach for a bit in a while... we'll see.

In the meantime, I thought I'd share with you one of the cards I made for the annual Stampin' Up Artisian Award contest. This award is one of the greatest perks of being a Stampin' Up demo! You submit 10 projects (5 cards, 3 scrapbook pages and 2 3-D items) of your best work in hopes that you'll come out in the top 10 participants. Why, you ask? Well, the winner gets a $500 SU shopping spree, $500 in cash, a special dinner with SU co-founder Shelli Gardner and concept artists and usually a special little gift or two from SU. Sounds wonderful, right? I agree!

Oh, and I forgot... because they changed it up this year and made the Artisian Award winners - "design team members" - the winners also get a free box of SU goodies once a month to design projects with to inspire fellow demonstrators... how cool is that?? Wouldn't you love to get that happy mail?

I haven't submitted in a couple of years so this year I thought I would try my hand at it again. Unfortunately, with my Mom getting sick I never finished up my entries so I didn't enter -- I thought I'd still show you the few I finished.

This was the first card I did... It features the Elements of Style Stamp set and the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper (both of which are still current!). I was going for a shabby chic style with this one and I think it worked. Very muted and simple with just a few little "extra" touches -- like the embossed oval frame using my big shot, the inking of the heart, the ribbon bow tied into the button etc. Nothing too fancy, but I was hoping I showed that I paid attention to detail! ;)

I think I need to get started on this year's entries soon... I'm pretty quick with the cards and the scrapbook pages, but the 3-D items take some thinking outside of the box for me. I'll show you my other card and my 8 X 8 scrapbook page that I finished some time soon...

Would you like to compete for this coveted Artisian Award title?? It's easy! Just pick up the demo starter kit at a huge steal (just $99 for $125 worth of product of your choice) and scoop up the Spooktacular offer for August where you get an extra project kit for Halloween including a great artist's tray project and all the goodies (think more free stamps) to make it! You can then have almost a full year to get to work on your entries -- not to mention make a bit of cash for the holidays if you host some card classes and other events....

It really has been one of the coolest things I've ever done (being a SU demonstrator I mean!). Want more info? Visit my website or e-mail me and I'd be happy to talk you through it. Or if you're ready to hop on board... visit my site and click "join the fun." It really is fun!

Yet another Convention Swap...

Hello and Happy Saturday! I was a little scattered with my convention swaps this year. Usually I do one or two designs and make like 80 of each. This year though I must have been board as I made five different designs and only made about 20 or so of each. Part of it was because I was using up some leftover card kits that I had lying around the house.

This one was a butterfly card I had made using the old Flight of the Butterfly stamp set - but that set retired so I came up with this new creation using all the same pieces. Sorry the coloring on this one is a little off... This one got flattened a bit, too, in the clear envelopes. I really softened the fiber of cardstock on my yellow flower so it curled and had a nice texture to it. It is simple to do, just run your bonefolder over your cardstock similiar to what you do with scissors and curling ribbon.

For those of you who received this swap at convention, here are the deets:

Soft Suede, 115318, $6.95

Memento Mall

One of the coolest things about being a demonstrator and being able to go to convention each year is Memento Mall!

It's the greatest little Stampin' Up logo store available only during convention. Look at this sweet little display of Stampin' Up branded chap sticks! There were four flavors: Watermelon, Pomegranate, Spearmint and Vanilla. That makes keeping your lips from chapping or burning super fun, right? And I love the cute little flag decorations -- all made with fabulous SU product, of course.

I thought I'd share a few more photos I took of Memento Mall. There is just so much to see at this fun little shopping haven!

See for yourself:

This was a fun little display of cards to showcase the card tree (quite literally a tree!) for us to showcase upcoming class projects and favorite samples. Isn't it the cutest thing?? There were some great card samples on it too....

and this one:

and this one:

I'm telling you ... there is inspiration EVERYWHERE at convention!

Here are a couple more photos from Memento Mall:

This last one is the cashiers ready to ring all of us up. It's actually only one side of the bank of cashiers (there's more to the right). The line can get pretty long sometimes... but don't worry they move really quick! Can you see in the center of the photo above one of the cashiers is waving a little flag? That's how you know the register is open again... it's so hard to see through the sea of people! :)

Would you like to be at Memento Mall with me next year? Right now is a great time to join SU... all new recruits who take advantage of the new "build-your-own" starter kit option in the 2012-2013 Idea Book and Catalog, will also receive a spooktacular home decor project kit, too (it includes free stamps and accessories -- boosting the value of your starter kit!). Look at how cute it is:

So cute. Do you want to join the fun? Ready to do it right now? Go to my website and click on the "join the fun" tab on the top right. Have some questions? E-mail me and I'll get right back with you to answer your questions. I'd be so honored to have you as part of my team!

Happy Friday!

Have you seen it?

This new Holiday Catalog from Stampin' Up is amazing... by far the best I've ever seen! I had to look through it like 10 times before I saw everything -- it's bigger and full, full, full of great products and ideas.

What are you waiting for? Go check it out here now! :)

You can start buying goodies from this baby today -- it's a month earlier than SU normally releases their holiday catalog so you can get a head start on those great crafting projects you have planned for the holidays!

Another great tid-bit of info for today is that the new MDS2 is launching! If you are not familiar with our digital paper crafting program, My Digital Studio, now is a great time to become familiar with it. It has always been great for make digital cards, scrapbook pages, photo books, banners and so much more -- but now you can use it for canvases! That's really exciting to me... it also has over 75 other great new features including being able to design in two-page spreads, use multiple colors on a stamp brush, recolor an existing embellishment, recolor a photo, text shaping and so much more! Want to learn more about it for free? Go to my website and download a free trial of the software for 30 days -- play with it, print with it, and try it out. I just bought a new laptop so when I ever get around to figuring out to tie into a wireless connection -- I plan to post a lot of my pages to showcase what this program can do!

In the meantime, I thought I'd share another one of my swaps from convention with you. I feel bad I've been making my demonstrator friends wait for the supply list for these (when I swapped at convention I had a sticker on the back that said visit my blog for more information about this swap -- but I didn't get a chance to post them before I left for convention!):
