Sale-A-Bration: Stampin’ Up’s Amazing You Stamp Set

It’s Tuesday, which means I have a new Teach Me Tuesday video for you. Today I’m highlighting the Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set Amazing you, but I also give you some tips for how to find stamp sets that will be great “workhorses” for your scrapbooking projects as well as cards. I have three tips for what to look for in a stamp set when you’d like to use it on scrapbook pages, and I share them in today’s video and in the text below the video. First, let’s take a look at the finished page: My Mom has been on my mind recently and it felt really good to “see” her face. I knew I wanted to use the coordinating Celebrate You thinlits (also free during Sale-A-Bration) on this page, and so I went specifically looking for a photo of my Mom to use. I have to say as I was flipping through photos of her, it felt really good to look at her and think about her (although it is still very hard even five years later not to get teary eyed). But it seriously felt like I had found a long lost friend. The page came together relatively quickly

Fall for Holiday Countdown #6: Scrapping as Therapy

Can you believe we are already half way through our 12 days of Fall for Holiday Countdown? Time really does fly when you’re having fun (and you can be super productive when you’ve promised a new project every day! lol) If you’ve just stopped in today for the first time, I am counting down some fun, fall projects featuring new product from the Stampin’ Up holiday catalog that was released on September 1. You can view the products online HERE or download a PDF copy of the catalog to look at HERE. If you decide you “need” any products from the holiday catalog, please be sure to use the hostess code WK7DFWJ7 and I’ll select one winner at the end of the countdown to one of each of the projects I make over the 12 days (but you must use the code). Today’s project is a bit personal. To be honest, I was in a bit of a funk the past few days. I couldn’t get myself off the couch. I was turning down offers to go hang out with friends, and I was just not interested in life in general. I was doing just the minimum each day to

Scrapbooking With Stamps

Hello! Can you believe it? Day three… I’m working on creating a habit here people! And I’ve actually wanted to share a couple of scrapbook pages with you for a while now. So how about one today and one tomorrow okay? Last month I was actually asked to do a “Scrapbooking with Stamps” class. Apparently a lot of people struggle with stamping on their layouts. This very technique is one of the reasons why I joined Stampin’ Up nine years ago. I had been scrapbooking for about six years and I got “bored” with the usual pre-made embellishments and wanted a way to add more flair to my pages and this was exactly it! So first let me apologize for the poor photography on this page. I really should have took an extra minute to retake this photo, but it’s late at night when I’m typing this, I’m actually pretty comfy on my couch and you know what? I’m being a bit lazy! But I think you’ll still find my tips helpful (hopefully, anyway). So back to my class. I created two pages that showcased at least SIX ways to use stamps on your scrapbook pages. This one uses three…

Happy Fourth!

Hi there… I just wanted to pop in somewhat quickly today to wish you a happy Fourth of July. I’m laying pretty low key today. (In fact, it’s 4:15 p.m. and I still haven’t showered!). I’ve been waffling back and forth between getting out and enjoying the day off and being really sad. It was one month ago today that I last saw my Mom alive. We were making plans to bring her home two days later (albeit in a hospital bed). Having been through this before with my Dad, I know that the first year is so, so difficult because everything is, “one year ago today…” or “this is the first xx holiday without….” I have gotten really good at pretending she is just at home… but then it will hit me hard that she’s not there. As I’ve said many times the last few weeks… every day is a new battle. Today’s battle is a toss up. One of the things that has helped me forget and even find a bit of joy has been crafting. I made this card a couple of weekends ago when I needed a distraction. I just started playing with some of my

Forever in My Heart

It still seems completely impossible, but one week ago today on June 5, 2012 around 6:15-6:20 a.m. I lost my mother. She passed away last week after an intense battle with Hepatosplenic T-Cell Lymphoma. Despite her being sick since February, I was not ready for this. She got a cold. The doctors were supposed to just fix her so we could bring her home. There were still so many things left to do. I need more lessons on how to use the sewing machine she bought me. We need to go on at least 10 more mother/daughter trips for Mother’s Day. I need to hear the stories of how Mom & Dad met at least one more time. I need to (lovingly) call her the “Crazy Lady” I need to tell her the story of the Beastie Boys and how she called the doctors very bad names multiple times (behind their backs, thankfully) I need to ask her how to re-pot the plants I got after she died I need to tell her I love her one more time I need to hug her with everything I have and tell her just how much she means to me I need
