Meet the Crafter: Sarah K

Howdy stampers! Boy, it’s been a long time. I’ve been thinking often of this poor neglected blog. I’m hoping to change that. I miss checking in with you, connecting and sharing! I thought today I’d start off with a new feature I want to add on a regular basis to my blog. I don’t know about you but I love to read about other crafters – what inspires them, what their favorite techniques are, favorite products, etc. So once a month I’d like to feature a different crafter friend who will share all the juicy details of their crafting life. For first volunteer for this fun series was my friend and fellow Cape Codder, Sarah K. Here is a very happy picture of her after a fabulous crafting “score” from Craigslist! Let’s get to know her a bit… How did you start paper crafting and what is your paper craft of choice (card making, scrapbooking, etc.)?My grandmother bought me my first rubber stamp at a craft fair on the Dennis green when I was a kid.  I loved to make stationary and gift tags!  A small collection of stamps followed.  Today I enjoy cardmaking but continue making gift tags. Where do

Whoa Baby!

Howdy friends… and happy Wednesday! Tomorrow is my Friday and I have a “me” day planned for the real Friday so I am gearing up to make it through tomorrow. Doing some prep for my Stamp Club tomorrow night helped, though. I love planning classes and imagining the happy faces of my customers as they make the projects. Today’s card isn’t actually one we’re doing in club. It’s one I actually made for my group meeting last month and since I have a lot of friends having babies (or grandbabies in some cases), it will come in handy for me. I absolutely love the “Baby, We’ve Grown” stamp set in the Occasions catalog. As soon as I saw it I knew it was going to be in my collection 🙂 This card features all sorts of new goodies from the Occasions catalog including some of my very favorite (um, hello gold sequin trim. You are beautiful! And Essential Wooden Elements? I think I love you…) Gee, can you tell I’m sort of giddy that tomorrow is Friday (for me!)… Another favorite I used on this card was the Fresh Prints Designer Series paper Stack – see I told you there were all sorts of new goodies on this one! What’s that? You don’t

Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh my goodness. How does this blog get so neglected? I have big plans and then life just always seems to get in the way. I did want to hop on this (US) Thanksgiving Eve, though and say a big ole Thank You to all my friends, family and customers. It’s been a tough year (still), but I am very grateful for all the blessings in my life. I had a delicious turkey dinner tonight and a plan to spend all day with my family tomorrow. My nephew is a Senior in high school and will be playing his final football game tomorrow. I’m super excited to see him play — hopefully he gets put into the game a lot tomorrow! Then — believe it or not — we actually go out to dinner for Thanksgiving! No dishes or clean up for us! Are you jealous? 🙂 Well, anyway just sharing a card from one of my Holiday Card classes this year. Can you believe we started in August and just finished up our fourth and final class this past Tuesday — that’s 40 cards for everyone that attended all four classes! I’m hosting a class again in December…

Just Five More days…..

There’s just five more days left of the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog. If there is something you’ve had your eye on, please be sure to order before Friday! This card was one of my swaps from Convention last year. I loved the Domestic Goddess Suite of products. Just so fun and retro! This card used the Domestic Goddess Designer Series Paper, which is actually on sale for just $8.21 per pack. As I write, the Domestic Goddess DSP is still available, but don’t delay! The stamp set on this card is called House & Home and it is really cute. Go check out all the images here. I love the little chair… I’m not sure why! As sad as I am to see some of these items going, I can’t even begin to describe how beautiful the new catalog is. Would you like one? It is my free gift to you, I just ask that you pay the $5 for shipping. Send me an e-mail and I can send you a pay pal invoice for the $5.00 and have it on its way to you on Tuesday. Book a private class with me and the catalog is yours completely free

It’s a Flower Fest!

Boy am I glad it is Friday. This week was rough. I’m happy I’ll be able to spend some time with my Mom tomorrow and hopefully get caught up on a bunch of things (mostly cleaning) that need to get done at the house, too. I thought I’d share another card featuring a favorite retiring stamp set of mine. This one is called Flower Fest and I love how it looks like crayons when you stamp it. Click on the photo to see it up close – you’ll see what I mean. Go ahead — I’ll wait. 😉 This also features two retiring In Colors – Blushing Bride and Poppy Parade. I really like both of these colors. Oh, actually I just realized there is another retiring color mixed in there — Pear Pizzazz. That has been one of my absolute favorite greens lately. If you haven’t stocked up, run to the online store (or rather click) ASAP as the In Color items tend to sell out quickly. Just two more weeks until we have the new Idea Book and Catalog to play with! I know you’re going to love it! Want a copy? E-mail me and I’ll set it up to be delivered directly to your door. I just ask that

Farewell to some favorites….

Good afternoon! Happy Saturday before Mother’s Day. My thoughts are definitely with my Mom today. She hasn’t been feeling well and has been staying up at Beth Israel trying to find out what is going haywire in her system. I hope the doctors find some answers soon! In the meantime, I puttering around in my stamp room. Tidying. Cleaning. Browsing. Stamping. A little of everything. Part of that cleaning includes saying goodbye to a few of my favorite stamp sets that are retiring with the close of the 20111-2012 Idea Book and Catalog, which ends on May 31. One of my favorite stamp sets to see go this year is Winter Post. And while it is not the holiday season right now, it truly is one of the sets that made me release an audible “Oh” when I read that it was going this year. Check out some of the cards I’ve made with this beauty: I think this last one was my favorite. The stamp set really didn’t look like much in the catalog, but had so much potential! It was a great stamp set for winter themed cards and scrapbook pages, too. I loved the snowflake in that

‘Tis the Season

Greetings blog friends (that sounds like I’m a martian or something!)… Anyway, I hope the morning of mid-week Wednesday finds you doing well. I am busy, busy, busy preparing for LOTS of upcoming events! I’m talking workshops, scrapbooking crops, classes, and craft fairs! All within the next three weeks. It’s all good. I’m so happy that my business has really been booming this year — I hope it continues into 2011. Believe it or not, when I was deciding what to post today I found myself thinking, “Oh I should post these Christmas cards soon because it’s getting late in the season.” Really? It’s only Nov. 3! As I mentioned in this post, though, I tend to get way ahead of myself with the seasons…. I’m already thinking about Valentine’s Day! Oh well. Today’s card is one of my favorite of this year. It includes our new Deck the Hall fabric (the scallop edge under the ribbon). It also has lots and lots of layers, which is always fun. I used the Winter Post stamp set (another one of my favorites!) Colors on this one are Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke and Very Vanilla – classic, I think… what about you?

Coming Back to Life…

So I’m finally feeling better after the pulled muscle incident of last week. Today is really the first day that I have no tinge of pain anymore when I look to the left. It was better (so that I was able to function without pain) by Monday, but there were still tinges of pain if I bent down, turned too far to the left, etc. Even yesterday if I looked all the way to the left, I would have a small nudge of pain, but this morning… A O.K. So I’d love to go to the gym today and get back on track (I had joined Curves and done my first workout the day before the pulled muscle), but I have to admit I’m afraid of a relapse… especially considering I have tomorrow off again because I will have 40 hours in by the end of today. Last week I was so bummed on Friday when I couldn’t do anything on my day off… I had so much planned! Isn’t that always the way? Anyway, I may wait until tomorrow afternoon to go so at least I’ll be able to get one productive day out of the weekend. I’m sure

Here I am!

Whew… what a day. Busy, busy, busy, but it is now just before 9 p.m. and I’m in my PJs and just about ready to fall into bed and call it a night… BUT I have one thing left to tend to 🙂 So I apologize for taking ALL day to get back here, but without further ado here is project #3 in the series of sneak peeks for the new Summer Mini Catalog: This card actually features a bunch of new stuff including two new core colors from the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog. I talked a bit about the Color Renovation coming with the next big catalog here. Check it out. In the meantime, lets talk about the card! One of my new favorite products in the Summer Mini is the Smooch Spritz! It comes in four colors and I used the Vanilla shimmer on the Early Espresso (new) card base and on the layered flowers (an XL Bigz die for the Big Shot machine – from the current main catalog). I also used the Gold Glow Smooch Spritz on the new Presto Patterns Designer Series paper (another one of my FAVORITES!). The paper is actually entirely white

Hold that thought… Sneak Peek – Day 3

My third sneak peek project for the new Summer Mini Catalog is complete, but it is a busy day for me. So I won’t have time to fill you in on some more new products, but here is a quick glimpse of today’s card. And let me just say that I am super excited to share with you some of the products I used today. So FUN! Check back later when I will post the whole card and give you some details on the new products!
