The Bucket List of Summer Photos For Scrapbookers

When the weather starts to get warmer and the days get longer, I don’t really spend as much time in my craft room creating. Can you relate? But summer is my very favorite season and I love to document in — particularly when I’m up to my eyeballs in snow say, mid-February! But in order to do that, I need to make sure I’ve planned ahead and have summer photos at the ready. I am not a chronological scrapbooker, so I like to think about the quintessential photos that tell the story of summer without being a 100th page on a family cookout or another summer birthday layout — not that there is anything wrong with those things — I just like to find the “bigger picture” in the smaller moments. So here are my suggestions for the top five “must have” summer photos for scrappin’ next winter (how dare I write that word right now!): 1. I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream. One of my favorite activities in the summer (and all year, really) is getting ice cream at one of the many ice cream shops on Cape Cod. Be sure to grab a photo

Fall for Holiday Countdown #6: Scrapping as Therapy

Can you believe we are already half way through our 12 days of Fall for Holiday Countdown? Time really does fly when you’re having fun (and you can be super productive when you’ve promised a new project every day! lol) If you’ve just stopped in today for the first time, I am counting down some fun, fall projects featuring new product from the Stampin’ Up holiday catalog that was released on September 1. You can view the products online HERE or download a PDF copy of the catalog to look at HERE. If you decide you “need” any products from the holiday catalog, please be sure to use the hostess code WK7DFWJ7 and I’ll select one winner at the end of the countdown to one of each of the projects I make over the 12 days (but you must use the code). Today’s project is a bit personal. To be honest, I was in a bit of a funk the past few days. I couldn’t get myself off the couch. I was turning down offers to go hang out with friends, and I was just not interested in life in general. I was doing just the minimum each day to

Teach Me Tuesday: Scrapbooking with Stamps

I have a confession today. I hoard stamp sets. Like lots of them. And there’s nothing wrong with that (and I’m sure many of you likely do the same thing!). So today I wanted to share with you a fun way to get lots of mileage out of your stamp sets — particularly if you are a scrapbooker! Today’s post actually goes along with my Teach Me Tuesday video from today. So maybe you should check that out first. Go ahead… go watch now. I’ll wait here. Did that give you some ideas? I hope so. Scrapbooking with stamps has so many benefits… you always have the right color embellishment, you can make as many of a certain element as you need and you can use it over and over again and get different looks each time! So I wanted to share the finished results with you here since the page wasn’t quite finished in my video. Here is the full 2-page spread: Here is the finished two-page spread. Now that it is all together, I think it might have been better if I did the chevron pattern on the right-hand side of the second page. Oh well. Done is

Teach Me Tuesday: Progressive Scrapbooking

Hey there friends… guess what day it is? It’s Teach Me Tuesday! Today I have a video for my scrapbookers… you know who you are! And even if you’re not a scrapbooker, there may be some hidden tips and tricks in there for project coordination if you want to take a peek, too! 🙂 Almost Two Decades of Scrapbooking! In case you didn’t know, scrapbooking was what got me addicted to paper in the first place. I’ve been scrapbooking for 16 years! Crazy, right? What is even crazier is that I really should have more pages finished… I need to stop giving everything I make away! Seriously, though, I think 90 percent of the pages I’ve made have gone in someone else’s album. Dumb, right?? I’m on a mission to start scrapbooking some photos that I can keep! And first up is to document the three Mother’s Day trips that my sister and I gave my Mom. You can read a bit more about that tradition HERE, but today I want to share with you a tip I use to face the blank 12 x 12 page (and the first page of my Mother’s Day “trips” album). It’s called Progressive

Happy National Scrapbook Day!

Hey there! I almost didn’t make it, but Happy National Scrapbooking Day! Did you get a chance to get scrappy? I’m actually at the Ready Set Crop Spring Fever event in Leominster, MA. We’re having lots of fun. Although sadly I’m not teaching any scrapbooking classes this weekend I did have a fun card class earlier today that kept me busy for a bit. But rather than sharing cards today, I thought it would be more appropriate to share with you a few of my recent scrapbook pages. I’ve actually been making quite a few lately for events. The one above was a single page I made as part of the make and takes for last month’s Memory Keeping Club class, which meets the last Friday of every month at the Harwich Community Center. We get together and work on our own projects for a few hours and I always have a make and take or two. The next date is Friday, May 22nd. You should join us! I’ve also been hosting a couple of scrap-a-thon’s lately, too. The first time I did this event was last summer and it was a big hit. So I just did one in

It’s Time to Sale-A-Brate!

Happy 2015! So sorry I sort of fell off the face of the planet at the end of 2014. Sometimes you have to know when it’s time to disappear for a bit. Personally 2014 was not my best year, but I’m ready to start a new year with a fresh new, positive outlook! I still do love a new year and while I know January 1 isn’t any different really than December 31 — it just gives me that mental fresh start that I love. Know what else I love? Sale-A-Bration! So excited that the most anticipated promotion of the year is here! The products our fabulous and did I mention there’s a new Occasions catalog, too? I always love the spring options… I think after four months of creating holiday cards I get so excited to start playing with pastels again! Anyway, I need to get back to creating some samples with some fabulous new goodies, but I wanted to give you the run down on Sale-A-Bration. There are three ways to take advantage of SAB: 1. Host a Workshop – This one might be the most fun… get together with some friends, make some fun crafty projects

A Scrapbook Page!

It has been a ridiculously long time since I posted a scrapbook page. Honestly, it’s been a ridiculously looong time since I’ve scrapbooked! That is so going to change for a couple of reasons that I’ll explain in a moment. This page is actually one I did several months back. In fact, I used the Merry Moments Simply Scrappin’ kit from the Holiday Catalog last year. How about I show you the first two pages I designed with this kit today and the other two in my next post? Sound good? So back to why I will be scrapbooking more… first, is because I just signed up to attend a scrapbooking weekend in June for the first time in years (as a scrapbooker NOT a vendor)! To say I’m excited is an understatement. I miss scrapbooking. That was my original passion and now that I’ve inherited hundreds and hundreds of photos (honestly it’s probably more like thousands), I can’t wait to start making some pages! The second reason why I’m going to be doing some scrapbooking in the very near future is because I’m launching a monthly Scrapbook Club! I’m so excited about this. I tried this years ago, but

Why the story is so important….

It may be hard to know this from visiting my blog of late, but my original paper passion was scrapbooking. I started scrapbooking about 12 years ago after being introduced to Creative Memories at a home party. I had just come back from a vacation in Barbados and that vacation album became my first completed album. I continued to scrapbook for about five years before I was introduced to rubber stamping. I was so excited by the stamps and all the coordinating Stampin’ Up accessories offered me (and I still am!). Of course, with rubber stamping comes the ability to whip up a card or two at a moment’s notice (and for a lot less than running to the local store). Recently, I’ve become largely focused on making cards for classes and events and while I love that and will not stop doing that, I’m really feeling compelled to go back to my scrapbooking roots. Especially after a recent discovery. When going through some of my Mom’s things recently, my sister and I came upon an actual nut and bolt on a chain in my Mom’s jewelry box. We pondered what this nut and bolt might be from. We’re fairly

Hello. Here I am…. It’s still Monday! For those of you who are on my e-mail list, I promised you a post today about this fun match book scrapbook album that I made for some Easter photos. Well, it’s still Monday, so while I didn’t have it up first thing this morning, I still held up my end of the bargain! This is a fun project to do for National Scrapbooking Day on May 5. How’s that for coincidence… National Scrapbooking Day falls on my birthday and on Cinco De Mayo this year — too bad I’ll be working this year. I’m sure I’ll have time to go out with the girls after our concert… Maybe I’ll be able to even squeeze in some scrapbooking in the morning and make it fully complete birthday celebration! Anyway, back to the topic! This is a great project to do in one sitting. I’m thinking of maybe doing it as a class… anyone interested? It’s pretty simple with just three pieces of cardstock stitched together. Here are some more photos: Here’s a view with the top open. It has 10 pages inside to decorate and showcase photos. You simply take a sheet of cardstock
