Teach Me Tuesday: Embossing Paste TWO ways

Hello there my crafty friends! It’s Tuesday! That means I have a new video for you in my Teach Me Tuesday series. Last week after my 12 days of Fall for Holiday Catalog Countdown I held an online party on Facebook that had two live demos as part of the party. However, my first one went a little wonky because the video came out sideways! Darn. So, I decided I needed to recreate that video and load it to my YouTube channel. I didn’t just want to re-do the card I made last week, though. I wanted to give you something NEW, too. So I created this little beauty: This is SO not my usual style! I knew I wanted to use the embossing paste in two different ways, though. One showing the way I used it in last week’s Facebook Live video (the snow on the tree) and then the second way as the “traditional use.” I figured I’d show that again as I think I’ve gotten better at it then my first time playing with it (You can see that video HERE.)  Check out today’s Teach Me Tuesday video below… there I show you how to get that

Teach Me Tuesday: Make some Quick & Easy Cards

Do you ever get the desire to create something, but you don’t know what you want to create? Or maybe you know you’d love to make some hand-stamped greeting cards, but you just don’t know where to begin? I have a great solution for you today! Enter the Soft Sayings Card Kit from Stampin’ Up (item#145466, $35). This kit is super easy to put together, and makes gorgeous cards! I do recommend a tombow multipurpose liquid glue (item# 119755, $4) for this kit in addition to your snail adhesive (item# 104332, $7), and dimensionals (which the dimensionals are included in the kit!). These cards are really gorgeous and I love that the kit comes with everything you need to make 20 beautiful cards (seriously, they are so much better in person!). What’s even better is you get the ink, the embellishments and a full size stamp set with the kit. You can even buy a refill kit (item# 145387, $21), that will allow you to make 20 more cards without getting a duplicate ink spot and stamp set. But, what I’m going to help you with today — is how to use that stamp set to give yourself even more options. Here is a

Teach Me Tuesday: Baby Wipe Stamp Pad

Do you ever feel like you’re on a hamster wheel and can’t get off? That’s how I’ve been feeling lately! Working for yourself is exhausting … wink, wink (well, and I’ve taken on a few other projects recently so that’s added to the work load.) Anyway, one of my favorite things to do to stop the crazy wheel from spinning in my head is to create something. Granted, when I first start the wheel (of unending thoughts) will keep distracting me, but eventually I get so involved with what I’m creating that all that other “stuff” stops, and that makes that stupid, squeaky wheel stop, too — for at least a moment. Creativity truly does take up most of your brain space when you’re actively in create mode — so it is a great solution when you’re feeling overwhelmed with life. And I’ve got the perfect thing for you to try to test out this theory! It’s Tuesday, so as you know, that means it’s time for another Teach Me Tuesday episode. Today, I’m showing you the Baby Wipe Stamp pad technique. This is a great way to get multiple colors on a stamped image without having to hand color

Showing Thanks with Stampin’ Up’s So Very Much Stamp Set

Happy Tuesday friends… I’m sharing another card I made with the “So Very Much” stamp set — one of the freebies currently available for Sale-A-Bration. Have you taken advantage of that yet? You don’t know what Sale-A-Bration is?? Well, it’s only the best time of the year for stampers… for every $50 you spend in Stampin’ Up product (you can shop HERE), you get to pick an exclusive item from the Sale-A-Bration brochure. Fun, right? There’s lots of great new toys, too, with the release of the Occasions Catalog last month. Today, though, I’m continuing my exploration of the “So Very Much” stamp set. One of the offerings from the Sale-A-Bration brochure. Here is a picture of that stamp set: I’ll admit this may not be the most exciting option to choose from the Sale-A-Bration catalog (I know it wasn’t my first choice), but now that I have it, it is truly a great work-horse on your stamp shelf. If you send a lot of “thank you” cards or have a big event like a wedding or something coming up, this might be a great option for you. Here is another card I made with this set: It’s yet another

Teach Me Tuesday: Watercolor Wash Technique

Hey there friends…Well, it’s another Tuesday and I’m back with another Teach Me Tuesday! I’m on a roll. However it seems like I’ve mastered the Tuesday post, but not much else! I’ll work on touching base more often here on the blog, but for now at least I’ve got this routine up and running, right? I don’t know about you but I am NOT a good watercolor-er. I love to color, but for some reason I’ve never been able to get the hang of shading and creating shadows. However, I have pretty much mastered the Watercolor Wash technique and today I wanted to share with you three ways to accomplish this look… all in one pretty quick video! Have a look for yourself… What do you think? Will you give it a try? Here are pictures of the two cards I showed in the video: Fast and simple… my favorite. Have I ever told you that I’m a lazy stamper?? (wink, wink). I hope you enjoyed today’s projects. Next week is Cape Cod Creative Escape (eek!) so hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze out another Teach Me Tuesday video… lots to do though between now and then to get ready.

Teach Me Tuesday: Emboss Resist

Hey there stampy friends! Happy Tuesday! It is a glorious day here on Cape Cod. I went for a walk this morning, it was such a great way to start my day (albeit a bit chilly). I have a ton of ideas swirling around in my head for Teach Me Tuesday videos — and all of you have provided some great inspiration as well! In fact, today’s Teach Me Tuesday video was a special request from my friend Verna. She tagged me in a Facebook post a few weeks back asking if I could show her how to create a card shown in the video. And it turned out that the technique (emboss resist) made for a great topic for Teach Me Tuesday! It actually teaches TWO things in one video. First is how to heat emboss. While this is an oldie (but oh so awesome!!), it is still new to many and it is an incredible “wow” when you first see it. I know it was one of the first things that hooked me on stamping over a decade ago! The second thing you’ll learn in this week’s Teach Me Tuesday video is the emboss resist technique, which is

Teach Me Tuesday: Progressive Scrapbooking

Hey there friends… guess what day it is? It’s Teach Me Tuesday! Today I have a video for my scrapbookers… you know who you are! And even if you’re not a scrapbooker, there may be some hidden tips and tricks in there for project coordination if you want to take a peek, too! 🙂 Almost Two Decades of Scrapbooking! In case you didn’t know, scrapbooking was what got me addicted to paper in the first place. I’ve been scrapbooking for 16 years! Crazy, right? What is even crazier is that I really should have more pages finished… I need to stop giving everything I make away! Seriously, though, I think 90 percent of the pages I’ve made have gone in someone else’s album. Dumb, right?? I’m on a mission to start scrapbooking some photos that I can keep! And first up is to document the three Mother’s Day trips that my sister and I gave my Mom. You can read a bit more about that tradition HERE, but today I want to share with you a tip I use to face the blank 12 x 12 page (and the first page of my Mother’s Day “trips” album). It’s called Progressive

Teach Me Tuesday: Big Shot Basics

Hey there friends! So I think you’ll be able to tell from today’s post and video that I’m struggling from the Monday-on-Tuesday blues. I’m feeling a little “off” today after coming down with the fastest cold ever last week (seriously, one minute I was fine and then two minutes later I felt like crap). I’m also still trying to sort out what to do/when with my new schedule. I’m having a blast, but still feeling a little discombobulated… Anyway, today, I’m sharing a card I made with the random pieces of cardstock I stamped and cut in this week’s Teach me Tuesday video. I really had no rhyme or reason when I pulled out scrap pieces to demonstrate with, but I figured out a way to make it work. So here is the finished card: Nothing super fancy… just playing with paper. Want to know what is really funny about this card, though (and further evidence that I’m struggling a bit this week??)? Look at how I put this one together: Oopsie… see, I told you I was off today! No worries, I’ll just chop it apart and layer it on a new card. Big Shot BasicsToday’s Teach Me Tuesday
